Customer Spotlight: Acheson TirePublished by Andy Sween on Tue, 2013-11-05 16:28
In small business, honesty is everything. That’s why for over 80 years, Acheson Tire has trusted Grand Rapids State Bank to be their banking partner. Starting as the first Chevy dealership in Grand Rapids in 1916, J.W. Acheson sold the company in 1930, but retained the tire portion of the business, which came to be Acheson Tire. Now owned by his grandson, John, the family-owned business has remained a GRSB business banking customer.
“Our business is based upon honesty. Being fair and honest are two of the most important things in my small business,” said John. “Being with a local bank, I have the accessibility to go in and talk with them. All of the employees are very helpful and accessible. If they say they are going to do something, they’re going to do it. I have a lot of trust in Grand Rapids State Bank.”
Primarily drawing customers from Itasca County and parts of St. Louis and Cass Counties, Acheson Tire’s philosophy is “The customer is number one.” Believing that GRSB offers the same to its customers, Acheson explains the benefits of banking with GRSB. “Service, service, service! As many small business owners know, time is of the essence. I have a pretty limited amount of time during my day to make it to the bank, but they make it easier. They help in any way they can; whether it is taking the lead on filling out paperwork, or simply knowing my name so they can access my account easier, it’s a huge timesaver.”
Over the past 80 years, GRSB has proven their dedication to customers such as Acheson Tire. “I remember one time that Wayne Bruns (VP, Business Banking) came over on a Friday night to my office after we were both done working to assist on some loan material. He didn’t have to do that, it was a Friday night. But it sure made my life easier. You don’t get that kind of service anywhere else.”
