Customer Spotlight: Northern Industrial ErectorsPublished by Andy Sween on Tue, 2013-10-01 15:30
A relationship that lasts for over 25 years is hard to come by these days, so when you find something that works, you stick with it. Northern Industrial Erectors has been setting the standard for steel erection, construction management, and millwright services since 1985. But before it became the leader in commercial and industrial construction, it started as a small business.
Formed by Hibbing native, Stan Bostyancic, in 1985, NIE, like most small businesses, began with a loan. Seeking a bank that understood the plights of a new venture, Bostyancic met with business bankers at Grand Rapids State Bank. From day one, Bostyancic felt at ease with a bank that not only valued its community, but also one that gave him the insight and personal service he needed to make NIE a success.
Now years later, Stan’s son, Derek Bostyancic, president of NIE, has continued that relationship. “GRSB has a reputation of being a local family owned bank with a history of providing the specific services each customer requires,” said Derek. “As a family business ourselves, I felt it was important to stay with a bank that was started on the same principles.”
NIE is based on a simple set of core values: integrity, trust and innovation. “Grand Rapids State Bank is committed to their customers and their community. They are cognizant of what is happening in northern Minnesota, which is a huge benefit to our business,” added Derek. “They know their customers and, like us, respect the basics of good business: customer service, flexibility and quality.”
From new construction and prototypes to complete rebuilds and building maintenance, NIE takes a comprehensive, team approach to their projects. As the only AISC-certified steel erector in the region, NIE’s work stretches across the Midwest including Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and as far west as Idaho. Northern Industrial Erectors has worked on various projects within the Grand Rapids area. Most recently, they provided the steel erection for Grand Itasca Hospital, Robert J. Elkington Middle School and Grand Rapids High School as well as the ASV expansion, which is now Terex. NIE also preforms maintenance for the paper and taconite industries.
“Business is ultimately about relationships and trust, and we get both from GRSB,” added Derek. “They know that by helping us and other small businesses like us, the Grand Rapids community becomes stronger. That’s the benefit of working with a local bank.”
