Highway 2 clean-up crew back in actionPublished by emzabinski on Wed, 2014-05-14 09:53
Eight GRSB employees braved the wind, rain showers and woodticks to pick up trash yesterday (May 13) on Highway 2 near Blackberry. The 2-mile stretch of US Highway 2 from mile marker 191 to 193 was "adopted" by Grand Rapids State Bank in 2008. The Minnesota Department of Transportation provides garbage bags and high-visibility vests for volunteers who are expected to clean up trash along the “adopted” roadway at last twice each calendar year.
This year’s treasures included abandoned signs, car parts, a chainsaw ‘scrench’ that Dan Foster estimates will fetch $1.50 in his summer rummage sale, and deer bones.
